About Us
Our Story
On a late February night in 1952 a group of believers in Christ came together to pray about the vision of starting a church in Lockport, NY. That church, first conceived in the prayers of its future members, was established two months later as Calvary Baptist Church. The same faith, love, and prayers that characterized its founding members has sustained CBC until today and continues to energize us to joyfully serve our Lord together, as we strive to also serve every person from our community that God brings to us.
Our Vision
To provide every person in Lockport and the surrounding areas with the opportunity to know and experience the love of Christ, a love that creates in us a desire to honor God and to lovingly serve others.
Our Mission
To reproduce mature and authentic disciples of Jesus.
Our Essentials
UpReach
has to do with our worship to the triune God as we grow in our knowledge of Him. Scripture teaches us that the end goal of our life is to glorify God (Isaiah 43:7) in spirit and in truth (John 4:22–23) and to be completely satisfied in him (Philippians 4:4). Jesus came Jesus died and Jesus rose again “To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen (Jude 25).”
InReach
has to do with our intentional involvement within the community (Hebrews 10:25) with the purpose of helping every disciple of Christ to become fully and authentically mature (Colossians 1:28). … that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13).
OutReach
has do to with our commitment to sharing the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 1:16) with those in our community with the aim that they, in repentance, may confess Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9-10), and may submit to His authority (John 14:15). “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20).”
